7 Days 6 Nights Tour to the Amazon - Cusco and Machu Picchu

DAY 1 Arrival in Lima
Assistance at your arrival to Lima International Airport and transfer to your Hotel. There you will receive a briefing on your tour; receive vouchers covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organization of your Peru trip.

DAY 2 Flight to Iquitos / Ceiba Tops
Morning tranfer to airport for your flight to Iquitos. Reception at Iquitos airport, brief city orientation and transfer to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops where private rooms with air conditioning and hot water provide all of the comforts of home. Afternoon hike in the beautiful primary rainforest reserve surrounding Ceiba Tops which includes many huge trees festooned with epiphytes. After dinner there may be local flute or guitar music at the El Toucan Bar or the guides are always ready to relate some of the many legends of the Amazon forest.

DAY 3 Ceiba Tops
Morning boat ride, spotting for dolphins, to visit a small village of Yagua Indians where your guide will explain the Yagua Indian culture and how it was affected by the arrival of Europeans and the passing of time. There will also be an opportunity to see some of the local crafts and for a demonstration of the blowgun which some of the Yagua elders still use for hunting. Afternoon walking excursion to the neighboring town of Indiana. Originally a Franciscan mission, Indiana has grown into a large river community with its own market, high school and small hospital.

DAY 4 From Ceiba Tops Lodge to Iquitos to 

Lima

 and 

Cusco

Morning transfer to the city of Iquitos and to the airport in order to fly to Lima. Take connection flight to Cusco. Reception and transfer to Hotel of choice.

Cusco

Optional Tour of the Sacred Valley or Cusco City Tour (not included)

DAY 6 From 

Cusco

 to 

Machu Picchu

Pick up from Hotel. Transfer to train station in Cusco for a 3 ½ hour train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the Incas". Arrive at Aguas Calientes station followed by a 30-minute bus drive, climbing 6km of winding road, to the incredible 

Machu Picchu

. Upon arrival, we'll participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site at your leisure. Return to Cusco.

Note: When operational or technical reasons obligate the Train Operator to relocate the clients onto the Sacred Valley-Aguas Calientes train service or viceversa, Best Peru Tours will provide all transfers needed to the train station in the Sacred Valley in order to board the train to Aguas Calientes or viceversa.

DAY 7

Cusco

 – 

Lima

Morning or afternoon flight to Lima. Connect with return flight home or transfer to your selected hotel or residence. Services in Lima available upon request.
