Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Day 02: Larco Museum
We will begin our tour visiting one of the best museums in Latin America. The Larco Herrera Museum, 18th century colonial-style museum houses the largest and most impressive ceramic collection in the world, with about 55,000 pre-Colombian clay pots on display. The collection concentrates on the refined ceramics of the Moche Dynasty, the people who lived along the northern coast of Peru between 200 and 700 AD. The Moche culture is recognized as accomplishing one of the greatest imaginative languages of ancient Peru through the use of creative pottery, providing clues to all aspects of their civilization without the use of the written word. One can learn about their religion, agriculture, transport, dance and music through their ceramic designs and shapes. The Moche are also renowned for their fascinating erotic pottery and the famous collection is on display in the separate ‘Erotic Hall’, depicting sexual practices of several Peruvian cultures in a lifelike, explicit and often humorous way. Day 03: Lima – Puerto Maldonado
Afterwards, we will go to Puerto Capitanía, to board a motorized riverboat, and we’ll navigate on the Madre de Dios River. During the journey, we will submerge into a fascinating natural environment, if we are lucky we will witness Ronsocos, Caimans, Turtles, Herons, Cormorants and other animal species in their natural environment.
Arriving at the Ecoamazonia Lodge, we will enjoy an exquisite welcome drink, we’ll get settled in our bungalows and will have lunch together.
CAIMÁN COCHA
After lunch you will be conducted by our specialized tour guide through an interpretive trail conveniently signposted to the Caimán Cocha, a small lake with an abundant presence of specimens of Black Caiman (Melanosuchus Niger) and Caiman (Caiman Crocodilus).
At the end of the evening, you will witness the spectacular sunset in the Amazon, an experience full of intensities overwhelming color ranges.
Upon returning to the Lodge, a delicious dinner will await you, and enjoy free time to share unforgettable moments at the bar, equipped with an excellent game room and all the drinks you can imagine.

Day 4: Lost Cocha & Monkey Island
After breakfast, we will start an adventure in the virgin rainforest, and accompanied by a local guide, we’ll go on a hike in the deep jungle, to get to the Lost Cocha which constitutes a refuge and feeding ecosystem for a huge variety of animals. There, we’ll have the chance to observe Otters, Caimans, Turtles, Sachavacas (Tapirs) Birds with multicolored feathers, the majestic Jaguar and a variety of fish species. This area is unique and proper to the Ecoamazonia’s Ecological Reserve which maintains it intact, with huge swamps and diverse “Aguajales”.Then, we’ll get to the extraordinary Observation Deck, from which we’ll be able to appreciate the immense and magical rainforest. Afterwards, we’ll have a pleasant canoe ride around the lake and will return to the lodge for lunch.
MONKEY ISLAND
In the afternoon, accompanied by our specialized guide, we will visit Monkey Island, a unique place in the heart of Madre de Dios River, five minutes away from the Lodge. During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes, with an exuberant flora, sheltering a variety of monkey species, in their natural habitat, such as Maquisapas, Capuchins, Small Lion Monkeys, Frailes, Cotos and other animal species like the Coati and Sloths and a great variety of birds.
Finally, we’ll complete our visit of the island, enjoying the sunset, with the most impressive dusk in the jungle. Back to the lodge we conclude the day with a pleasant dinner.

Day 5: Puerto Maldonado – Cusco

Day 6: Cusco – Sacred Valleys of the Incas
Breakfast at the hotel. Early in the morning our guided visit to the Sacred Valley will take place. We will start the tour departing through the fertile countryside, arriving to the colonial town of Pisac, where a colorful market will welcome us, continuing our route through the valley, passing by typical town, till getting to the archaeological province of Urubamba to try a delicious lunch buffet.After we will visit an ancient but enigmatic Ollantaytambo Fortress located in a typical Inca town, composed by numerous temples and terraces. This archaeological complex is one of the biggest monumental exposures that the Inca have ever done.
Overnight in the Sacred Valley. Lodging at the hotel.

Day 7: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Note: When operational or technical reasons obligate the Train Operator to relocate the clients onto the Sacred Valley-Aguas Calientes train service or viceversa, Best Peru Tours will provide all transfers needed to the train station in the Sacred Valley in order to board the train to Aguas Calientes or viceversa.
Day 8: Cusco – Lima
Morning flight to Lima.We going to pick you up from the airport and take you to Miraflores and will begin our tour visiting the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores where we will see the Financial Center, the San Isidro Golf Course and the Olive Grove Park. We will also go by the Huaca Pucllana, a pre-inca pyramid shape temple that has survived the expansion of modern civilization. We will stop at Parque del Amor (Love Park) and enjoy a nice view of the Pacific Ocean, as we drive down the Miraflores Malecon, a road along the cliffs overlooking the ocean.
Colonial Lima
We will visit downtown Lima`s historical center, designated by UNESCO as Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1991. In this journey we will enjoy what once was the center of the 16th century Spanish colony. We will see the Plaza Mayor, the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop`s Palace, the City Hall and the Desamparados Train Station. We will also see Plaza San Martin, a large park surrounded by old colonial buildings still displaying beautiful carved wood balconies and other landmarks.
San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs
We shall visit the San Francisco Monastery and its famous underground crypts known as the Catacombs. At the end of the tour you will have a choice to either shop at the Indian Market, Larcomar Mall or return to the airport and take your flight home.
